Thailand Population Projections

The population of the Kingdom of Thailand is expected to reach about 70.77 million people by the year 2015. This will show a growth rate of about 1.8% as the birth rate is at about 11.5 births per 1000 people and the death rate is at about 7.9 deaths per 1000 people. Over the next 5 years, the birth rate will decrease to about 10.5 births per 1000 people and the death rate will increase to about 8.4 deaths per 1000 people. Because of this, the population growth will slow down as it approaches 71.92 million people in the year 2020, a growth rate of about 3.5% from the current population. By 2025, the birth rate will continue to decrease as the death rates increase. The population will reach approximately 72.73 million people, which shows a 4.6% increase from the current population. However, by the year 2030, the birth rate will be about 9.8 and the death rate will be only slightly lower at 9.7. Because of this, the population will only reach 73.15 million people, which is an increase of only about 5.2% from the current population. Then in 2035, the death rate will exceed the birth rate as the population is expected to decrease to 73.099 million people, which is a 5.1% increase from the current population. The gap between the two rates will increase as the population continues to decrease by 2040 as it reaches 72.56 million people, an increase of about 4.4% from the current population.

Population Pyramid

A population pyramid illustrates the age and sex structure of a country’s population and may provide insights about political and social stability, as well as economic development. The population is distributed along the horizontal axis, with males shown on the left and females on the right. The male and female populations are broken down into 5-year age groups represented as horizontal bars along the vertical axis, with the youngest age groups at the bottom and the oldest at the top. The shape of the population pyramid gradually evolves over time based on fertility, mortality, and international migration trends.
